Am I "incontinent"?

This week we're mostly studying vision and eye movements, with a little spill-over into other cranial nerve functions. It's really quite interesting to learn about the hardwiring for how we can see, smell, balance, etc. Something I just came across in my text that I'd never heard of before is a condition called pseudobulbar affect. It's caused by lesions in certain pathways in your brain caused by conditions like MS, ALS, and some others. This syndrome is associated with uncontrollable bouts of laughter or crying without feeling the usual associated emotions. It's described as leading to "emotional incontinence". If it wasn't tied up with other such serious diseases, I'd think of this as a pretty funny concept. Oh-oh - maybe I need a laughing diaper? :)
